Marrakech has strong, reliable 4G across the new city, with only occasional dips deep inside the medina's thick-walled riads.

Overview

Expect consistent 4G for maps, messaging and streaming across almost all of the city, including Menara Airport itself.

Coverage on the ground

Guéliz & the new city

Strong 4G throughout Guéliz, Hivernage and the areas around Jemaa el-Fnaa's outer edges. This is the most reliable part of the city for video calls and heavy data use.

The medina

Coverage is generally good but can dip inside deep riads with thick stone walls, especially in basement rooms. Wi-Fi at your riad usually fills the gap.

Palmeraie & outskirts

Slightly weaker than the centre but still solidly 4G in most resort and villa areas.

Where to buy or top up a SIM

  • Marrakech Menara Airport arrivals hall — kiosks for all three networks
  • Operator shops along Avenue Mohammed V in Guéliz
  • Small phone shops near Jemaa el-Fnaa for quick top-ups

For the full process — documents needed, prices and setup — see the Morocco SIM card guide or the eSIM guide if you'd rather install before you arrive.

Frequently asked questions

Most cafés and restaurants surrounding the square offer Wi-Fi to customers; the square itself has no public network, but mobile coverage there is strong.

Coverage thins quickly once you climb into the High Atlas. Download offline maps before heading out — see the mobile data guide's data-saving tips.
